Taking the hassle out of managing business travel

We all know that dreaded feeling. You need to arrange group travel for a work event. Everyone is travelling from different locations and there’s a pile of tickets to gather up and divvy out. You also know there’ll be at least two of your colleagues who’ll lose part of their ticket, then there’s always the last minute changes to the travel itinerary that create needless panic.

The good news is… there’s an app for that! At Trainline, we’ve taken time to look at the way our business customers travel and book their journeys. We know the common frustrations; we know it’s not always easy managing large volumes of people and we know that plans change – often right up to the moment of departure. So we’ve built a solution.

Introducing our enhanced Trainline for Business service, an intuitively-designed booking tool that makes travel management and budgeting easier than ever before.

Booking travel for your business and on behalf of colleagues is now incredibly simple. The new-look website brings together fares from all UK train companies, allowing business travel bookers and administrators to easily compare and be confident they’re spending smartly – saving 33% on average when booking in advance.

What’s more, employees can have their own business profile in the Trainline App, with mobile tickets sent directly to their phone. Bookers can even empower employees to book tickets through the Trainline App themselves, linking to a corporate account or credit card with digital receipts instantly shared with a company expense provider or work email. This removes the need for colleagues to be continually asking the admin staff to make adjustments on their behalf, saving time and boosting productivity.

Lost tickets and missed trains will also be a thing of the past, as travellers can see exactly what’s been booked and manage their own ticket in their preferred format (download, collection at station, mobile). No more last minute ‘what’s my booking reference number, again?’ calls from the station!

As more of us manage our everyday lives via our mobile devices, the Trainline App makes business travel intuitive and easy. Features include access to mobile tickets to avoid queuing at the company kiosk or in the station, live journey updates and one click refunds if things don’t go quite to plan. Travellers have everything they need to manage their booking, and make sure their journey runs as smoothly as possible, right at the tap of a button.

So how do you get started? Log on to sme.trainline.com and click on ‘Join your company’ to set up your company account. It’s free to do, and only takes 30 seconds to set up. From there, you can invite your colleagues to set up their own accounts (if they don’t already have a pre-existing Trainline account) linked to your company. Not only will your company have access to real-time travel management and ticketing information, you’ll also have access to a dashboard giving visibility and insights to the company’s entire rail journeys (past and upcoming) and spend, which can be downloaded as a statement for internal reporting purposes.

Trainline for Business also helps keep business costs down – with an average £56 saving per ticket when booking in advance rather than buying at the station on the day of travel – which can make a dramatic difference to a company’s bottom line over the course of a year.

Rail travel booking just got smarter. Join the thousands of businesses already using Trainline for Business for cheaper, more hassle-free travel.
