Joan Burge Blog: BIG Change: It Takes BIG Faith

Have the Faith to Change Your LifeHave faith for big change

Do you have the faith to change your life? When you approach a situation that you wish you could change but it appears to be impossible, that’s when we need our faith more than ever! Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Faith in action is when something seems so unrealistic, so out of reach, we have the faith to step out and go for it without knowing 100% of the detail on how we’ll get there and we’re not guaranteed a specific outcome. It’s easy to step out and initiate change when we’re comfortable in what we’re about to do and we know there’s a good chance it’s going to turn out. That’s easy!

Where it really gets difficult is when the change you want to make seems impractical. The kind of change that seems so unrealistic that people tell you it’s crazy! “Why on Earth do you think you could move into that big house” or “Why do you think you can be financially free when you’re in debt all the time?” To me that’s when BIG faith steps in and you have to hold to your belief because it’s something bigger than you and you need to have faith you’ll achieve it. It’s something bigger than me and I know I can’t do it on my own and there is something in the Universe that has to step in and help me through this.

I’ve had my business for 24 years and we have a nice space, but I have dreams of a nice, big office – in fact I know exactly where I want to be. The office space is currently under construction and it should be complete in about 9 months. Every time I drive by that building, I’m thinking “That’s going to be the new office for Office Dynamics & Live a BIG Life!” Then my little voice starts telling me all the reasons why it won’t work out for me. Please also be careful of your little voice. You will have the doubts and fears that say to you “you’re crazy, you don’t have the money, you don’t have the skills, or the wherewithal to do it!” We have to tell our little voice to “be quiet.” In order to make BIG Change we must have the faith to step forward and know that there is something beyond us and that it is going to come into play and help us achieve that goal or dream we’re after.
I am experiencing this right now and I’m sure you are as well, in some way.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you willing to stretch and take BIG risks?
  • Do you have the faith that it can happen for you?
  • Do you believe you will be successful and figure it out?

BIG faith has got to be at your core because just saying the words doesn’t cut it. Bottom line, what does this mean to you? When you are stepping out, step out in faith; believe that all things will work out for your good-one way or another.

  1. This is a great article, thank you for sharing. Faith produces confidence in our jobs, and confidence is perceived by all. Each of us should eliminate the words “I can’t” from our vocabulary. We all make mistakes, but then who is perfect?
